P90X for Dancing?
What I love to do is try new exercises and dance styles. P90X or Power 90 Extreme from Tony Horton is a very popular exercise regiment around my office so I decided to jump on the P90X bandwagon and give it a go! It consists of routines for your leg & back, abs, yoga, kenpo, plyometrics, etc. I tried the P90X Leg & Back workout + Ab Ripper X which took about 1.5 hrs. P90X is a 90 day commitment so I can’t commit to it with my dance and work schedule, but hey you can always steal exercises from it and incorporate them into your workout routine!
Here are 5 Exercises from the Leg & Back workout that I think is great for dancers especially ballerinas:
25 Calf Raise Squats with 5 lb dumbbells for your calf and toes
25 Super Skaters for strengthening your ankles, hamstrings, and balance
90 secs of Single Leg Wall Squats for your quads and hamstrings
25 Calf Raises for your calves and toes – 15 slow and 10 fast/exploding with feet in 1st position, parallel, & inward toes
30 80-20 Sieber Squats for your calves, quads, and sautes! – 15 no jumping and 15 jumping
Calf Raises
Super Skaters
Single Leg Wall Squats
Dead Lift Squats
80-20 Sieber Squats
It’s getting late so I’ll need to post the rest of the videos tomorrow! Has anyone else tried P90X? Are there exercises from P90X you think we should steal?
